Potential & Feasibility Check
Founders invest in their professional future. Throughout their careers, they have already acquired diverse expertise and taken on responsible tasks. However, when starting their own business, they need additional competencies. In the first phase, the so-called “potential check,” it is assessed whether the founder has the prerequisites and potential to implement the startup project. We cover the following key topics:
Business Model Development
To be successful in the long term, it is essential to have a functioning business model. It is easier to realize a bad idea with a good business model than the best idea without a coherent business model. As someone interested in starting a business from unemployment, the business model is usually not yet completely clear, which is why a visualization method helps. Key topics include:
Sustainability in Founding a Business
For all startups, long-term and sustainable success of the company is important. The insight is that the interplay of ecological, economic, and social goals leads to economic stability. To check the business idea for sustainability and entrepreneurial resilience, Kompass offers sustainability checks that show founders both opportunities and strengths, as well as weaknesses and risks. Module content:
Digital – Digital Strategy for Startups
The importance of digitalization is higher than ever. Many companies, especially with increasing globalization, have realized that a lack of a digital strategy carries an increased risk of falling behind. A well-developed strategy supports the startup project, provides security, and holds potential for successful customer acquisition, alternative sales channels, customer communication, customer support, payment and invoicing, and even completely digital and automated business models.
Module contents:
This module considers three areas of action:
• Digital competence of the founder
• Process understanding
• Digitalization potential of the startup project
Finance, Banks, and Funding
• Meeting preparation for stakeholders, banks, and investors
• Determination of financing and capital requirements
Figures, data, and facts are particularly important in discussions with stakeholders, banks, and investors.
It is essential to have a clear understanding of capital requirements, cost and
revenue planning, liquidity planning, profitability forecasts, and funding. The goal is to equip founders in all
areas of finance, fundraising, and utilization, based on the financial plan and determined capital requirements.
Determining the right financing partners is also an element of this module. This involves selecting loans,
guarantees, funds, credits, and startup grants according to the project and needs,
and successfully applying for them if necessary.

Market Entry and Derivation of Action Plan (Conclusion)
• Implementation of the startup project
• Active management and recommendations for future viability according to the startup project
• Clarification of further support needs/options after founding
The wrap-up pursues two goals: Firstly, important key activities, central questions, and control aspects are analyzed and evaluated together with the founder to derive measures for more effective and efficient service delivery. This can prospectively strengthen the success and future viability of the project.
Secondly, the next steps (activity planning) for a successful startup are discussed, and the founder is prepared for future challenges such as discussions with banks, investors, or stakeholders. Based on the financial plan and the determined capital requirements, the aim is to equip founders in all areas of finance, fundraising, and utilization, so that nothing stands in the way of successful implementation.
