The proportion of women in the start-up scene is still underrepresented – a situation that needs to be changed. Female entrepreneurship, also known as fempreneurship, refers to innovative start-ups founded by women, particularly in the start-up sector. A key characteristic of female entrepreneurs, due to the unique approach and values that women bring to their entrepreneurial activities, is the focus on social and societal issues, such as sustainability and social justice, that they bring to the development of their business models.
